FRANCHINO, Richard Louis 84 of Pompano Beach passed away January 4, 2013. He was born in Orange, NJ. He enlisted in the Navy May 29, 1945 and earned the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He entered the Marines July 25, 1947 and earned the WWII Victory and China Service Medal. He was also a Major in the Air Force and retired on February 27, 1988. After retirement he was Fire Chief with the Orange, NJ Fire Department. He was pre-deceased by his wife Doris who passed away Sept. 21, 2012. Survived by his son Steven Franchino of Coconut Creek, Fl. A visitation will be held Wed. January 9th 2013 from 4-8 pm at KRAEER FUNERAL HOME 1199 E. Sample Rd. Pompano Beach, Fl. 33064 (954) 946-2900. A Mass will be said 9:00 am Thurs. January 10, 2013 at St. Paul The Apostle Church in Lighthouse Pt. Fl. followed by burial 11:15 am with full military honors at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Fl.
