Agnes Winnie Mire, 94, of Port Arthur passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Agnes was born February 1, 1918, in Kaplan, Louisiana to the late David and Olita LeMaire and lived in Port Arthur most of her life.
Agnes could best be described by her family and friends as an easy going and good natured person who always wore a smile. She enjoyed gardening, walking daily, camping with her husband and hosting her friends at her home. Agnes volunteered for over 30 years at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Pink Lady.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 40 years, Elton Mire, sisters, Mamie Hebert, Codry LeMaire and her brother Roland LeMaire.
Agnes is survived by her brothers, Royce LeMaire and his wife Audrey of Groves; Deral LeMaire and his wife Maudrey of Beaumont; sister, Irene Broussard of Meaux Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews that she treated like her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by many.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2012, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Groves, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Monsignor Kenneth Greig officiating.
