Angie was born and raised in Port Arthur to Charles and Sarah Grado, growing up in a large and close-knit family where her deep love for faith and family took root. She later married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” A. Bowers, with whom she shared 69 wonderful years. Together, they raised their children with devotion, laughter, and faith. Angie will always be remembered as a loving mother, a devoted wife, and a loyal friend.
She is survived by her son, David Carter Bowers; her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Weeks and husband Jamie; her sister, Marguerite Pierce; her grandson, Seth Carter Weeks; and her step-granddaughter, Shanna Weeks. Angie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and a host of extended family and friends who cherished her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert A. "Bob"; her daughter, Cathy Ann Bowers; her parents, Charles and Sarah Grado; her brothers, Joe Grado; Salvador “Sal” Grado; her sisters, Mary Grado, Anne Curtis, Josephine Grado, Kathryn Milner and her daughter-in-law, Terry Lynn Bowers.
Angie dedicated her life to her home and family. She was a homemaker who took her responsibilities to heart, known for her organized home, her love of labeling and dating things, and her thoughtful attention to detail. She was deeply involved in her children’s lives—serving as a Bluebird leader for Sarah, assisting Bob with Boy Scouts for David, volunteering as homeroom mom, and later, joining the Aggie Moms Club as David attended Texas A&M.
Faith was the cornerstone of Angie’s life. As a member of First Christian Church of Port Arthur, she nurtured lifelong friendships through Sunday School and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Before her passing, she held the distinction of being the church’s longest-standing member, a testament to her devotion and steadfast faith.
Her family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Angie’s devoted caregivers: April Adaway, Megan Culpepper, Melanie Recio, Sandra DeJean, Diane Green, Ashley Mejia, and Tasha Corley, as well as her Harbor Hospice nurse Cathy Gohlke and nurse’s aide Danielle Bollenbacher. Their compassion, love, and gentle care provided great comfort to Angie and her family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th St, Port Arthur, Texas. A celebration of Angie’s life will follow on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM at First Christian Church, 5856 9th Ave, Port Arthur, Texas. Angie will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are James “Jimmy” Bowers, Marc Grado, Charles Grado, Edward Curtis, Ethan Honza, and Tommy McDonald.
Angie’s legacy will live on in the love she poured into her family, the friendships she nurtured, and the faith that guided her. She will be remembered as a woman of grace, strength, and devotion whose life was a blessing to all who knew her.
