Rita was born on September 8, 1926 to John & Mary Ferer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At the age of 3 years old, her family relocated to Detroit, Michigan which is where she grew up and graduated high school.
Rita moved to Glendora, California which is where she met the love of her life, Antoine (Tony) Pellerin. The two were married in Santa Monica, California on February 2, 1949, and were married for 60 years. Eventually, Rita and Tony moved to Port Arthur, Texas, where they had six children.
Rita was a stay-at-home mom and devoted member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Rita was an active member in the Altar Society and spent many hours volunteering at St. Catherine School and Bishop Byrne High School. Rita loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she will be missed dearly by all who loved her.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine; her parents, John & Mary Ferer; her brother, Bill Ferer; her sister, Marion Smoot and grandson, Shawn Hebert.
Rita’s survivors include her sons, John Pellerin and wife, Charlotte, of Tomball, Texas; Robert Pellerin and wife, Theresa, of Austin, Texas; daughters, Renee Ancelet and husband, Donnie, of Port Neches, Texas; Theresa Hebert and husband, Wade, of Groves, Texas; Cathy Hollier of Houston, Texas; Judy Ancelet and husband, Si, of Port Neches, Texas; and her sister Barbara Ferer of Atlanta, Georgia.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Kahtan Kaissi, Darla Kinsey, and to Hospital Plus for their special care in taking care of our mother.
Family will hold a private service to celebrate her life.
