He was the youngest of nine children born to Sam and Lena Cuccia.
Anthony attended St. Mary's Catholic School from grades 1-8 and graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in 1959. He lived in Port Arthur his entire life. After high school, Anthony did a tour of duty with the Army. He was honorably discharged on February 21, 1960. He then joined the Army National Guard of Texas.
While still serving in the ARNG, Anthony went to work at Livingston Shipyard, where he worked as a welder from 1967 to 1987. After health issues forced him to stop welding, he then transitioned to a job at St. Mary's Hospital, where he worked until his retirement in 2009.
Anthony faithfully attended St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1959 and was an active member until his death.
While Anthony never married, he played an important role in the lives of his siblings and his 21 nieces and nephews. One of his strengths was the ability to tell humorous and engaging stories. You could say he was a natural-born storyteller. He had a passion for firearms and enjoyed collecting them. He also loved fishing and watching stock car racing.
All his family loved him and will miss him greatly.
Anthony was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lena, and Sam Cuccia; his brothers, Jasper Cuccia, Nick Cuccia, Frank Cuccia, and Joseph Cuccia; his sisters, Josephine Ross, Mary Tompkins, Angie Savarino, and Lucille (Sister Andre) Cuccia.
The viewing for Anthony is on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Following the viewing, there will be a Rosary service at St. Charles Church in Nederland from 1:00 to 1:30PM with Mass beginning at 1:30PM and a graveside burial following the mass at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Groves, Texas.
