Arthur Lee Charles Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on February 7, 1947, in Opelousas, Louisiana, he was the cherished son of the late Charlie and Elvina Charles.
Arthur was a man of deep faith, beginning each morning with his Bible in hand, finding wisdom and comfort in the Word. Known for his sharp wit and straightforward nature, he lived by the motto, "He said what he meant and meant what he said." He also had a love for a good game of Dominoes, always bringing laughter and friendly competition to the table.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Eva Bernadine Charles; his parents; and his siblings: Grime Charles, Gerald Charles, Alton Charles, Justine Collins, Ethleen Lemelle, Anna Mae Martin, Eula Mae Charles, Judy Charles, Joyce Johnson, and Thelma Jones.
Arthur’s legacy lives on through his devoted family: his son, Arthur Charles Jr., and his wife Twanna of Greenville, MS; his daughter, Lisa Coleman, and her husband Willie; his two grandsons, Brandon Charles and Kameron Charles of Katy, TX; his brothers, Charlie Charles, Richard Charles and his wife Rita; his sister, Pearlie Bailey; his sisters-in-law, Shirley Mae Pitre Joseph and Betty Ann Pitre Leday. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Arthur Lee Charles Sr. lived a life full of love, laughter, and faith. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit and the lessons he imparted will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A service to honor and celebrate Arthur’s life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church, 448 Gazelle St., Port Arthur, Texas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by his funeral service at 2:00 PM.
Following the service, Arthur will be laid to rest at Calvary cemetery 3700 25th St, Port Arthur, TX 77642
