Beverly “Bitsy” Jo Wright, born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on October 18, 1958, decided on November 7, 2025, that it was time to trade in her earthly problems for eternal peace—and maybe a fresh lime for her Corona. She was 67 years young, a proud resident of Starks, Louisiana, and a lifelong Port Arthur, Texas original.
Bitsy was a free spirit, a self-proclaimed “hippie with attitude,” who could talk the paint off a wall and have you laughing before you even realized it. If you ever heard someone talking too loud in a store aisle about barbecue sauce or the best thrift store finds, chances are—it was her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Jo Wright; her mother, Devona Bell Clark; her brother, Ricky Wright; and her sister, Sharon Johnson, who’s probably saving her a seat and a cold beer as we speak.
She leaves behind her son Richard W. Hebert; daughters Candice M. Woodard, Misty N. Woodard, and Iris Brandy Pinkerton (and her husband Todd); brothers Michael Johnson (Christine), Terry Johnson (Stacy), and Alan Johnson (Peggy). Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Theory Dyess, Kane Woodard, Raiden Castle, Layla Castle, Evelyn Cantu, Beni Cantu, Zach Pinkerton, and Justin Pinkerton, who will all miss their amazing “Granny” dearly.
She also leaves behind a cast of nieces, nephews, and partners-in-crime: Josh Johnson (Sia Botsaris), Jesse Johnson (Sarah), Ashley Johnson, Veronica Vaughn (Mike) and her BFF forever Michael Allen.
Bitsy loved barbecue, backyard gardens, and anything that came with a discount sticker. She had a weakness for “Nic-Nacks,” her plants, and good company. If you visited her, you probably left with a story, a belly full of food, and maybe a new houseplant you didn’t ask for.
While our world feels a little quieter without her voice echoing through it, we know she’s in heaven now—laughing, talking a mile a minute, and watching over us with Sharon by her side.
So raise a Corona (with lime, please) and toast to Bitsy—one of a kind, loud, loving, and completely unforgettable.
