Carlton A. Jackson

Carlton had been a resident of Port Arthur for the last 39 years after moving here from New York. He had worked as a Merchant Marine and a pipefitter. He married Normia Jean on December 18, 1971. He enjoyed swimming, helping others and drinking coffee at McDonald’s after his retirement. He was a member of Faith Christian Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Arthurine Riley; 2 brothers, Owen Jackson and Frankie Jackson; and a son-in-law, Chad L. Butler.

He is survived by his wife, Normia Jackson of Port Arthur; son, Chama K. Jackson and wife Laura of Port Arthur; daughter, Chinara Butler of Port Arthur; brothers, Nevill Jackson of NY, Tony Jackson of NY; sisters, Princess Jackson of NY, Janet “April” Jackson of Connecticut, Joanne Jackson of NY; sister-in-law, Nettie Anderson and husband Terry of LA; brother-in-laws, Sylvester Riley of FL, Ronald Jean of NJ, Larry Jean and wife Ruby of Pearland, TX; 1 granddaughter, Christian K. Butler and special friends, Trinette Rose of Port Arthur and Ashante McKnight of Katy, TX.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur. Burial will follow services at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves, TX.
