Chin Thi Vu

Chin Vu, age 106, returned to her heavenly home on July 14, 2022. She passed away peacefully at Cascades nursing home. Chin was born and raised in Vietnam but immigrated to the United States in late 1970’s, where, she lived out the remainder of her life. Loved ones will remember Chin for being resilient, stern and a devout Catholic. She was able to live through the war in Vietnam, countless storms in south Texas and lived to the age of 106. Her devotion in God kept her going through the hardships and trying times. Although she can be stern most of the times, she has been known to bust out dance moves to some of the latest hits. Besides reading the Bible, she also enjoyed sipping on an ice cold bottle of Budweiser or Heineken on special occasions.

Chin is survived by her younger sister, Mai Le; her adoring seven children, son, Nhat Pham and his wife, Tho Nguyen; son, Dinh Pham and his wife, Tin Nguyen; son Tinh Pham and his wife, Hon Nguyen; daughter, Lan Pham and her husband, Ly Nguyen; son, Nam Pham and his wife, Men Tran; daughter, Tot Pham and her husband, Duoc Nguyen; son, Thanh Pham and his wife Thuy Nguyen, as well as 32 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grand- children who all loved her very much.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Muoi Van Pham; her younger brother, Huynh Van Le and her granddaughter Dung Pham.

The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given at Cascades at Port Arthur. The family also appreciates all the prayers and concerns extended to us during this time.

Prayers and services are being offered at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th Street. There will be mass held at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church, 801 9th street. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church, with Father Phillip Tran officiating. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park cemetery, 3900 Twin City Highway
