Christine Nevils, age 67, of Richmond, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. Born in Clarksville, Tennessee to Laura L. Shy and the late Jimmy Ramsdell Sr., Christine lived a life marked by deep compassion, fierce loyalty, and an unwavering love for those around her.
As a child, Christine traveled extensively with her family, living in places like Germany and Taiwan while her father served in the U.S. Army. These early experiences helped shape her adventurous spirit and her appreciation for the world around her. She was a natural nurturer — lovingly nicknamed the "Mother Hen" — always protective, always giving, and always putting the needs of others before her own.
Christine’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Johnny Costello, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love, laughter, and countless adventures. Together, they traveled many places, including the Bahamas, Alaska, and Cancun, creating memories that will forever be cherished. They danced, they laughed, and they loved — deeply and without condition.
Christine is also survived by her beloved mother, Laura L. Shy; her son Michael Nevils; and her daughter Marsha White and husband Danny; her sister Lisa L. Rome-Walker and husband Alan; her cherished grandchildren Ashleigh White, Abigail Johnson, and Ethan White; and her great-grandchildren Annalee Derise and Ayden Johnson. She also lovingly raised her step-grandchildren, treating them with the same warmth and care she gave her own.
She also leaves behind numerous other family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Ramsdell Sr.; her stepfather Roy Shy; and her brothers Jimmy L. Ramsdell Jr. and Johnathan L. Ramsdell.
Christine had a deep love for nature and the simple joys of life. She had a warm, welcoming heart, and she loved fiercely and without reserve. Her honesty, kindness, and strength touched everyone who knew her. To be loved by Christine was to feel safe, seen, and treasured.
A graveside service to celebrate Christine’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Oaks Mausoleum, Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, Texas.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Christine’s legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
