He was a retired operator in the CRU Department for Texaco after 37 years of employment. He had served as a Merchant Marine during WWII and married Lou Anna Stroder in 1944. Mr. Romero was a very faithful parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister, volunteered much of his time helping with fundraisers and benefits and for 10 years had cooked for Bingo night. He was a jack of all trades and spent much time tinkering in his workshop. He enjoyed making wine, hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Romero is preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
His survivors include his wife, Lou Anna Romero of Groves; a daughter, Cindy Webre of Port Neches; 3 grandchildren, Colin Forsmo, Lindsay Webre and Sydney Webre; 2 great-grandchildren, Lennon Gant Forsmo, Luke Romero Forsmo all of Nederland and 37 nieces and nephews.
A gathering of his family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012 with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.
Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2012 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
