Diane Bourgeois, 73, was born February 21, 1953, in Beaver, Pennsylvania to William and LuJean Kaye. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2026. She was a longtime resident of Southeast Texas, last residing in Nederland.
From the day Diane was born, she was her big sister’s best friend. They spent many years growing up and making wonderful memories together. At a young age, while living in Pennsylvania, Diane and her sister each had a twin bed. But Diane would often slip into her sister’s bed at night because she was scared. They also had a family cat that they enjoyed dressing up in baby clothes. As Diane grew older, she enjoyed spending some of her free time going crabbing on the sea wall, riding her bike, listening to records in her room, and taking care of her pet gerbil, Pockets.
Diane married her soul mate, Harold Bourgeois, in February 1977. Together they shared 47 years of a life rooted in devotion and steady partnership.
Though she earned her bachelor’s degree, Diane chose to be a stay-at-home mother so she could be present for her children. That decision allowed her the opportunity to homeschool her children. She was heavily involved with the homeschool groups they were a part of, along with being very diligent in her children’s education classes in the home to ensure they received the best education.
Harold, Diane, and their children loved to travel and took many family vacations all over the United States, and they even traveled abroad to Canada and England. Even after Diane’s children had all grown, she continued to travel whenever possible. Diane loved traveling to visit family and attend cat show competitions with the prize-winning cats that she and Harold had bred and raised. They became well known and respected within the cat show community. For a time, Diane and Harold even ran the local cat club for Beaumont and organized the local cat shows.
Aside from traveling, Diane loved the simple things in life. She always appreciated any time she was able to go with her daughter to get their hair or nails done. Diane also liked spending time outside gardening. She would spend time tending to her flowers, tomatoes, peppers, and various herbs. But there wasn’t anything Diane loved more than her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed every chance she could get to spend time with those she loved, especially her grandchildren. Many of those times were spent around the table sharing in her love language, cooking and feeding others. Diane would often prepare meals for families, both on her own and as a part of a group at her church.
Those who knew Diane understood that her kindness was not something she reserved for special occasions, it was the way she moved through the world. She had a gift for caring for others with warmth and patience, and she was known for loving people with open-handed grace.
She is preceded in death by her father, William Kaye; her mother, LuJean (Patton) Kaye; her husband, Harold Bourgeois; and her grandchildren, Aliyah Bourgeois and Brian Bourgeois.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara Bourgeois; her sons, Luke Bourgeois and wife, Abby Bourgeois, and Jacob Bourgeois and wife, Renee Bourgeois; her sister, Mary Kaye; and her grandchildren, Raiden Bourgeois, Riley Bourgeois, Brandon Bourgeois, Rebecca Bourgeois, and Addy Bourgeois. Diane also leaves behind 5 loving step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild and a host of other family and friends to carry on her memory.
Diane’s legacy is one of gentle strength, steady compassion, and a kind-hearted love that made room for everyone, children, grandchildren, step and adopted family alike, each held close and cherished as her own.
A memorial service honoring Diane Bourgeois will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2026, at Golden Triangle Church on the Rock, Twin City Hwy @ 69 South, Beaumont.
