Elgie Jenkins Jr. 80, born September 1, 1934. One of 11 children born to the union of Elgie and Carrie Jenkins in Evergreen, La. Elgie was a devoted and caring husband to his wife Inez for 59 years. A pillar of the community, he lived in the Montrose area for over 50 years. He retired as a foreman at Jefferson County Drainage District #7. Preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Jenkins; grandchildren, Trinity Williams and Christopher Jenkins; brothers, Richard, Herman, Robert and J.B. He is survived by his loving wife, Inez; daughters, Pat Jones, Marie Graham, Carla Johnson, Mazie Jenkins, Lynn Jenkins and Joyce Wade; sons, Elgin, Larry and Timothy Jenkins; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lee, Carrie Lee, Elizabeth and Queen Ester; brothers, Edward and William. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 10:00am at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, 227 Hwy 365. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am. Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park.
