He served in the United States Army 162nd Infantry during World War II in Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines.
After the war he attended Lamar University and Rice University for premed education and then Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago where he met his wife, Nancy. They were married January 10, 1953.
He returned to Houston for his Internship at Jefferson Davis Hospital and Pediatric Residency at Hermann Hospital. He was in private practice of Pediatrics in Port Arthur from 1955 to 1985.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Mary Ann and her husband Robert Stark, their two children and two grandchildren, all of Lake Jackson; daughter, Theresa and her husband Tommy Ryan, their two children and three grandchildren, all of Port Neches; brother, Edward and his wife Ethel Orgeron of Breaux Bridge, La; numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie Schulz and son, John Orgeron.
