Faye LeBlanc Benoit Forsythe, born October 16, 1935, in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Eutice and Dilta LeBlanc, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2026. She was a beloved mother, Maw Maw, great-grandmother (Old Maw Maw), sister, aunt, and friend whose love, generosity, and caring spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born and raised in Port Arthur, Faye lived a life devoted to family, friendship, and caring for others. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, James "Jim" Benoit and William "Bill" Forsythe; and her beloved sister, Shirley Blanchard. Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those she loved so dearly.
A proud graduate of Bishop Byrne High School's Class of 1954, Faye pursued her passion for beauty at Mims School of Beauty. As the owner of Faye's Beauty Box, she spent many years helping people look and feel their best. Later, she managed the beauty shop at a Port Arthur nursing home, where she brought joy to countless residents. Although she officially retired at age 75 after a remarkable career, Faye never stopped doing what she loved. She continued cutting the hair of family and friends for years, giving her final haircut just one week before her passing.
While many knew Faye for her skill as a beautician, those closest to her knew her greatest talent was showing love through food. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and few things made her happier than feeding the people she loved. Family gatherings were filled with the aromas of her famous chicken and sausage gumbo, roast, rice dressing, and homemade yeast rolls. Her meals brought family together around the table, where stories were shared, laughter echoed through the room, and memories were made. To Faye, cooking was never just about food. It was her way of taking care of others.
Family was the center of Faye's world. Known simply and lovingly as Maw Maw and Old Maw Maw, she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She celebrated their accomplishments and made each one feel special and deeply loved. Her home was a place where family always knew they were welcome, and her love was a constant source of comfort and strength. Every knock at her door was followed by “Come on in!” and every phone call was ended with a “Thanks for calling” and a simple but heartfelt “I love you too baby”.
Faye's legacy lives on through her daughter, Belinda (Benoit) Hebert and husband Don Hebert; her grandchildren, Andrea Morgan and husband Josh, and Garrett Hebert and wife Kayla; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Natalie and Andrew Morgan, and Benjamin and Emmy Hebert. She is also survived by her sister, Becky Carrell; nephews Larry, Ronnie, Dale Blanchard, and Christopher Carrell; niece Tammy Estrello; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.
A service celebrating Faye's life will be held on November 9, 2026, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th Street, Port Arthur, Texas. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately following from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Don Hebert, Garrett Hebert, Benjamin Hebert, Emmy Hebert, Josh Morgan, Andrew Morgan, Christopher Carrell, Greg Vice, and Larry Blanchard.
The family would like to thank Father Jim McClintock for his prayers, guidance, and support, and for officiating the services honoring Faye's life.
We love you, Maw Maw. Thank you for every meal, every hug, every lesson, and every memory. Though we will miss you dearly, your love will continue to live on through the family you cherished and the lives you touched. You will never be forgotten.
