Floyd J. Gaspard, age 78, of Port Arthur, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 17th, 2025, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX. He was born October 28, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of the late Lonie Sr. and Elvena Gaspard.
For 53 years, Floyd worked on the waterfront of Port Arthur. He started with a summer job in 1965 that turned into a lifelong career ending in retirement as the Port Director of Port Arthur.
Floyd loved his community and was actively involved in many service organizations such as: Texas Port Association, Gulf Ports Association, American Association of Port Authority, Traffic Club of Beaumont, Propeller Club, Seamen’s Center, Pulp & Paper International, and the Kansas City Southern Christmas Train. He was dedicated to growing the Port of Port Arthur and growing the community with added jobs.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by two brothers, Alto Roy Gaspard and Lonie Lee Gaspard, Jr. Floyd loved his family and is survived by his wife, Francine Dugas Gaspard, married nearly 60 years. Floyd is survived by his siblings, Darrell Gaspard (and wife Diana), Sister Katie Gaspard of Houston and Maggie Joubert (husband Ray) of Orange and Sharon Anderson of Wichita Falls. He also is survived by Sister-in laws Gaile and Cheryl Gaspard. Floyd is survived by two sons, Mark Brandon Gaspard of Port Arthur and Brent Matthew Gaspard (wife Kitsy) of Lumberton as well as three grandchildren Hannah, Ella, and Hayden Gaspard.
The family would like to thank Dr. Clement and staff, Baptist Hospital (Drs and staff), Home Health Doctor’s Choice, and Harbor Hospice (Dr. Lavalais and staff) for their loving care.
The Wake will be held on October 23rd, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Grammier-Oberle in Port Arthur, TX.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with Father Andy Moore, Father Sinclair Oubre, and Father Kevin Badeaux will be held on October 24th, 2025, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Heath Gaspard (nephew), Jim Whiteley (Godson), Eli Jackson (great nephew), Troy Priddy (great nephew), Dr. David Prioux (nephew), David Molbert (nephew) and Orlando Ciramella, honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Floyd’s memory to the Port Arthur International Seafarer’s Center, the Dominican Sisters of Houston, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
