

Irene Castaneda DeLuna, 77, of Port Arthur, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011, at her home in Port Arthur. She was born on September 9, 1934 to Carmen Fabela Castaneda and Cenobio Castaneda in Port Arthur.
Irene was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had worked for Safeway and then retired from Appletree. She was very family oriented and loved her grandkids. Irene enjoyed crocheting, going to baseball games, fixing her cars and playing bingo. Much of her time was spent cooking and volunteering for church functions.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Cenobio Castaneda, Jr.’ a sister, Mary Castaneda; a sister-in-law, Lisa Castaneda and a daughter, Ave DeLuna.
Her survivors include her husband, Johnnie Costanzo; 2 sons, Paul DeLuna and wife Debbie of Orangefield, Carlos DeLuna of Port Arthur; 3 daughters, Theresa Cardenas and husband Florentino of Port Arthur, Paula Vasquez and husband Roberto of Lawrenceville, GA, Elizabeth Belk and husband Trent of Lumberton; 5 brothers, Pablo Castaneda of Port Arthur, Roy Castaneda and wife Louise of Groves, Jessie Castaneda and wife Helen of Bridge City, Alex Castaneda and wife Jerene of Leesville, LA, Simon Castaneda of Groves; a sister, Ampero Capallera and husband Caesar of Beaumont; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a very dear friend, Carmen Baker of Mauriceville.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
