

James Ray Wroten, 87, of Baytown, TX, went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2021. He was born in Georgetown, LA on April 4, 1933 to Vera Rambo and Clarence Wroten. Much of his childhood was spent playing with his older brother Rudy and his sister Norma Jean, where they lived in Alexandria, Louisiana. His Family moved to Bridge city, Texas where he graduated from Orange high school. He played on the varsity football team and had a lifelong love of sports. After graduation, He enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany. He was a radar operator. After an honorable discharge and three medals, he returned to Port Arthur, where he lived most of his life, and began working at Texaco refinery. He started out as a painter but moved up to Welder and did some pipe fitting. He took pride is his work at Texaco, were he worked for 41 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and especially attending TJ high school football games. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and also loved watching the Houston Astros. He was a member of Orangefield First Baptist Church in his later years. He enjoyed Sunday School and attending church functions. In 2017, he moved to Baytown, TX to be closer to his daughter.
He was a kind and gentle man, who loved his family dearly.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie Wroten, his daughter, Sydney Wroten, his parents, his brother Rudy Wroten and his sister Virginia Singleton.
He is survived by his daughter, Lee Wroten, his sisters Norma Jean Fusilier and Connie Richard, and his brother Rodney Wroten and several nieces and nephews.
He will be buried following a private graveside service at Magnolia Cemetery on Sat., Feb 6, 2021.
