Javier Cardenas Ceja, 64, of Port Arthur, TX passed away Monday, December 10, 2018, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Javier was born May 15, 1954 in Michoacan, Mexico to Rafael and Teresa Ceja. Javier was a loving and giving person with a good heart. He loved his family and friends. His passion in life was to help others and was often generous to them. Javier was not only a good father to his children, he was a father figure and role model to others that crossed his path. He was a strong hardworking man who was the owner of Ceja’s Nightclub on Gulfway Drive. Well respected in the community Javier also had a green thumb for plants.

Preceded in death by parents Rafael Ceja and Teresa Cardenas Ceja. Mr. Ceja is survived by his wife, Gloria Ceja; children, Alicia Garcia and husband Leopoldo, Bibiana Zepeda and husband Luis, Javier Ceja Jr.and wife Blanca, Araceli Perez and husband Israel, Imalda Ceja and husband Luis Cisneros, Alex Ceja, Teresa Ceja and Jesus Ceja; brothers, Rafael Ceja Jr. and wife Consuelo, Roberto Ceja and wife Lourdes, Ramon Ceja and wife Angelica, Raul Ceja and wife Grasella, Manuel Ceja and wife Alicia; sisters, Lydia Ceja and husband Francisco, Grasia Ceja, Alisia Ceja and husband Rogelio, Letisia Ceja and husband Jose, Teresa Ceja and husband Jesus, Marisela Ceja and husband Juan. Mr. Ceja also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild to cherish his memories.

A Christian Vigil will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 13, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

I didnt know much about him but when I met him I had nothing but respect for him. I would go to his nightclub and hang. He would tell me about the old time and we laugh and have a beer. He would try and teach me more spanish. He was a good man. His place in the family cant be replace. Rest easy tio.

As many of you know I live in Colorado but every time I would go down I would see my uncle at Ceja's have a beer and tell him how I've been and ask about the family I'm coming down next week going to feel weird not having him there

This is still to hard for me to believe πŸ’” this man has had a big inpact in my life! Met him when i was just 8 yrs old he wasnt just a friend he was family ❀️ A great role model ! Never have i met a man as strong as him ! He never showed pain nor sadness no matter how hard life was he always seemed to make the best of itπŸ₯° he was always so positive and always had a smile of a million bucks theres was never ever a dull moment when u cane across him πŸ’— i know you are in a beter place now but I also know Port Arthur will never be the same without you ! 😒 I woke up asking myself, why you? 😣 why now? Whos gonna b on my side when chivas plays ? πŸ€— whos gonna help me make fun of the fans de los pollitos ? All i have left is memories. GREAT memories i will always cherish! God how i wish this was just another nightmare and know u will b at the bar when i get there thursday! But i know its not! Your gone javy but u will never be forgotten! Javier was a great man he will be truly missed. He always had a smile on his face an made everyone feel loved.I spent many nights hanging out there with friends an family..Port Arthur will not be the same on gulfway .Prayers for family an friends.

Ive know Javi for many many years and he a very good man even when he would kick me out if his club for fighting he still would let me come back he a man of gold and Javi you will be missed by me and so many other people and my prayers and condolences goes out to his family may you Rest In Peace my friend gone but never forgotten!!
