Julia "Aurora" Estrello

Julia “Aurora” Estrello, 86, formerly of Nederland passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at her residence in Conroe, Texas.

Aurora was born on September 26, 1934, in Sierra de Luna, Zaragoza, Spain to Teodora Lamban Bailin and Gabino Bailin. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur and was the former co-owner and operator of Tasty Pastries in Nederland and lovingly known as Nanny to Tina Muñoz Legendre and Shawn Gilmer. Aurora loved to sing, sew, cook and bake, play Bingo and go to the Casino whenever she could. She was a ‘pageant mom’ and was very involved in the Mexican Heritage Festival. She loved working with all of the boys and girls during Fiestas whether it be directing pageants, working with the dancers or sewing costumes.

Survivors include her daughters, Stefanie Bailin-Quintela and her husband Joel of Spring, Tiffani Estrello and her wife Carrie of Spring: her son, Robert Estrello and his wife Tammy of Nederland; grandchildren, Jake LaCour, Joe Estrello, Fallon Estrello, Dalin Bartell, Joel Quintela, Isabella Quintela, Zavier Quintela, A.J. Estrello, Maranda Estrello, Zayne Estrello and Marcus Estrello; her sister in law, Elvira Estrello Jones; and her nieces Genina Broussard, Samantha Wilson and Tara Foust. Aurora was preceded in death by her parents, Gabino and Teodora Bailin; her husband, Joseph Antonio Estrello, Jr., her mother and father-in-law, Maria and Antonio Estrello; her brother-in-law, Lucian Dempsey Jones: her sister, Esther Bailin and her son, Jose Estrello, III. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver and friend over the last year, Liduviña Scott of Conroe. Liduviña is also from Spain and is a retired nurse. Many thanks Liduviña, mom loved you and we do too.

A visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2020, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur, Texas at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas. Due to the ongoing pandemic, please wear a mask if social distancing is not possible.

Julia was a wonderful woman. She was so excited when I gave her this shirt. Zoro made her very happy. You could always make her smile with some strawberry tres leches cake.
