

Leonard C. McGill 97, passed away at Oak Grove Nursing Home, Groves, TX on July 2, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents William McKinley McGill and Eula Mae Meredith McGill, brothers Billy McGill, Wayne McGill, Alton McGill and grandson Jeremy McGill.
Leonard was born July 20, 1924 in Deport , Texas. He began his career with Texas Refining in 1943 And later was drafted into the U.S. Army Where he served as a Staff Sergeant. He was in the Korean Conflict where he was assigned for telegraph wiring. After the Army he returned to Texas Company. Him and his parents rented a duplex in Port Arthur where he met the girl next door and fell in love with his soulmate.
He is survived by his wife Patricia “Patsy” Walter McGill of Groves who passed away July 5, 2022 at the age of 85. Patsy was born in Baton Rouge, La. to Mont and Lovice Watler of the Cayman Islands. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Leonard and Patsy were married on July 7, 1954. Patsy worked at Speirs and Passeros in Groves.
They were the proud parents of: Leonard Wayne McGill (Christine) of Groves, Susie Salinas (Pat) of Port Neches, Mike McGill (Connie) of Hemphill, Tx and Russell McGill (Kim) of Groves, TX.
Grandchildren: Amanda Benton/Roman of Port Neches, Sean Mitchell/Heather of Orangefield, TX, Breann Lester (Josh) of Lumberton, Tx; Jessica Ford (Charlie) of Port Neches, Meagan Gassmann (Bill) of Friendswood, Mikey McGill (Amber) of Orangefield, TX, Bradly McGill and Hunter McGill of Groves.
great grandchildren: Bryson, Baylee, Brayden, Anthony, Paul Roman, Emma, Jude, Lyla, Kash, Kyle ,Avery, Kailani, Bane, Paislee, Maverick, Lily and Audrey. Sister in law Jessie McGill, nieces Rae Ann, Terri, Sherry,and special cousins Flo, Pal , Mary, Hugh, Esme and Verna “Muffet” Rutherford.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday July 8, 2022 at 12:00 Noon for Leonard and Patsy at Grammier Oberle Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM until the service hour. Leonard and Patsy will be entombed at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
