Linda Marie Decuir, 78, was born on July 3, 1947 in New Iberia, LA to her late parents Hewell and Dorothy Toutcheque. She moved to Texas at the age of 6, graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School, and built her life in Port Acres where she raised her two children. On January 3, 2026, Linda entered the arms of our Lord in Heaven.
Linda is preceded in death by her loving parents Hewell and Dorothy; partner of 36 years, Luis Merren; brothers Aaron and Donald; and her sister-in-love Barbara. We can only imagine the Cajun welcoming and reunion they held for her in Heaven.
She is survived by her son, Lanny and his daughter Anika; her daughter-in-law of 26 years, Gina; daughter and son-in-law, Ashlee and Khris and their children, Keegan and Aubree; sisters, Monica, Cynthia (Cindy), and Christine (Tine); and countless friends who are family especially Susie, Joan, Myrna, and Delbert Lejune.
Honoring Linda’s final earthly journey are pallbearers: Khris, Donnie Jr., Sydney, Jeff, Larry, and Keegan. Honorary pallbearers are Jamie, Israel Jr., and David LaLonde.
Linda was a dedicated daughter, sister, Mama, Granny, Aunt, cousin, and friend. She raised her children to believe in and rely on family and has therefore left a priceless foundation and legacy of never-ending love. In high school, Linda was the life of the party bringing smiles to everyone and she gracefully grew into the woman who hosted the party with her flair for cooking and love of dancing! She eagerly welcomed every friend we ever had with open arms into her home and into her life. No one ever left Aunt Linda’s house without a full belly and a plate for the road. She was a sweet and generous Granny to her three grandchildren. Linda was proud to watch her children become parents and took every chance to brag on her grandchildren's accomplishments. Linda had her own accomplishments too and we were so proud of her when she studied hard and dedicated her time to becoming a home health nurse aide. This was her true calling as she spread love and care through every patient’s home and of course became friends with many along the way. Linda’s friends remember her being very kind and never shying away from extending a helping hand. Her late parents witnessed much of her selfless life and would be honored to see the way she lived her days after their passing. She loved and gave with all her might and was a friend and support to anyone she encountered.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church in Port Acres.
The family would like to express our deepest thanks for all the prayers and love shown towards our mom and to us all during this time and over the last few years. We have felt your genuine love for our mom and truly appreciate you all. May you continue caring for others in your life and never miss the opportunity to show love to one another.
