Lula Belle Hawkins, 92, a resident of Brazoria County, formally of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in Alvin, TX. Lula was born September 24, 1922, in Louisiana, to Clemont and Eliera Romero. She was a 100% Cajun lady who spoke French and loved to cook Cajun food. She also enjoyed dancing, sewing and dancing. Lula’s favorite flowers were pink roses. She was very intelligent and creative. She could just look at a picture from a book and recreate the same exact clothing, only even better.
Lula is preceded in death by her parents, Clemont Romero and Eliera Hebert Romero. She is survived by daughter, Mary Ann Hawkins Read of Kirbyville; grandchildren, Randy Read and wife Brooke, Ollis Read, Tania Read Hill and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Christian Read, Dillyn Read, Ollis C. Read, Chrissy Hill, Xavier Hill, and Kanyea Hill.
Graveside services for Ms. Hawkins will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
