Marina Flores Newsom, age 57 of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on May 24, 2024. Marina was born on December 26, 1966, in Mexico City, Mexico. To her mother Maria Elena Pantoja Aguilar, and late father Juan Jose Flores Lozano.
Marina’s passion has always been to be a servant through Christ, spread kindness and charity to others whether through her own act or community service. Marina was the proud Jr. Vice president of the VFW whose mission is to serve and improve the lives of veterans, service members, their families and our community. Her selflessness is only one of her many powerful qualities as there was never a week that went by where Marina wasn’t helping someone. Marina enjoyed attending church services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Marina enjoyed spending her time outdoors from boating to camping, and gardening, she truly appreciated the beauty of nature and travel and never missed an opportunity to explore the blessings of the world. Marina wholeheartedly enjoyed pouring into her grandchildren and overall being surrounded by family. Marina’s greatest accomplishments in life consist of becoming a United States citizen, receiving a service award for making 15 years with the Nederland school district, Becoming a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a friend to all.
Marina was preceded in death by her father Juan Jose Flores Lozano.
Marina leaves behind her mother: Maria Elena Pantoja Aguilar, Her husband: Lewis Wayne Newsom. Her first-born son: Eduardo Eileen Salaverri, her first born daughter: Karla Marina Salaverri. Her stepchildren: Lewis Robert Newsom, Esther Newsom. Her sisters: Araceli Flores Pantoja, Leticia Flores Pantoja, Maria Elena Flores Pantoja. Her brothers: Juan Manuel Flores Pantoja, Luis Fernando Flores Pantoja, Mario Flores Pantoja. Her granddaughter: Bella Sofia Salaverri. Her grandsons: Vincent Earl Wilson Jr., Kevin Maleake Wilson, Lewis Newsom, James Newsom, Hunter Newsom.
A Celebration of Marina's Life will take place June 20th 2024
Visitation will be held from 2pm – 6pm followed by a rosary ceremony at 6 pm at: Grammier-Oberle funeral home located at 4841 39th St. Port Arthur, TX 77642
A Catholic Mass will be held on June 21st 2024 at 11 am
