Mario Salazar Sr.

Mario Salazar Sr., age 61, of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Born in Mexico to Guadalupe Monreal and Pedro Salazar, Mario was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a hardworking man who left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Mario was a faithful Catholic who carried his beliefs with humility and grace throughout his life. He was married to his beloved wife, Maria, for 45 years, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. They raised four children and shared countless memories, always rooted in a deep love for family.

For 38 years, Mario worked at JBS Packing, where he took tremendous pride in his work. He was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and willingness to go the extra mile. Mario’s commitment inspired those around him, including several of his children who proudly worked alongside him. He was a joyful presence on the job and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Family was the heart of Mario’s life. Each year, he and his loved ones made the cherished journey to his birthplace in Mexico to celebrate Christmas with extended family — a tradition that brought him great joy. His love for his family, especially his grandchildren, was boundless. He cherished every moment with them and poured his heart into being a supportive and caring grandfather.

Mario will be remembered for his warm smile, kind spirit, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his generosity, laughter, and strength.

Mario was preceded in death by his father Pedro Salazar and his mother Guadalupe Monreal.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria, his children, grandchildren, and many extended family members who will miss him dearly.

A life well-lived, a man well-loved — Mario Salazar Sr. will be forever in our hearts.

A visitation for Mario will be held Monday, June 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary at 5:30 PM at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th St, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. A Catholic funeral mass to celebrate the life of Mario will occur Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Mario will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, TX.

Mario Salazar Sr., de 61 años, residente de Port Arthur, Texas, falleció pacíficamente el miércoles 28 de mayo de 2025. Nacido en México, hijo de Guadalupe Monreal y Pedro Salazar, Mario fue un esposo devoto, un padre amoroso, un abuelo orgulloso y un hombre trabajador que dejó una huella imborrable en quienes lo conocieron.

Mario fue un católico fiel que mantuvo sus creencias con humildad y gracia a lo largo de su vida. Estuvo casado con su amada esposa, María, durante 45 años, y juntos construyeron una vida hermosa llena de amor, alegría y devoción. Criaron cuatro hijos y compartieron innumerables recuerdos, siempre arraigados en un profundo amor por la familia.

Durante 38 años, Mario trabajó en JBS Packing, donde se enorgullecía enormemente de su trabajo. Era conocido por su dedicación, su sólida ética laboral y su disposición a ir más allá. Su compromiso inspiró a quienes lo rodeaban, incluyendo a varios de sus hijos, quienes trabajaron con orgullo a su lado. Era una presencia alegre en el trabajo y siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar.

La familia era el corazón de la vida de Mario. Cada año, él y sus seres queridos hacían el preciado viaje a su ciudad natal, México, para celebrar la Navidad con su familia extendida, una tradición que le llenaba de alegría. Su amor por su familia, especialmente por sus nietos, era inmenso. Atesoraba cada momento con ellos y se entregaba con todo su corazón a ser un abuelo comprensivo y cariñoso.

Mario será recordado por su cálida sonrisa, su espíritu bondadoso y su inquebrantable dedicación a sus seres queridos. Su legado perdura en las innumerables vidas que conmovió con su generosidad, su risa y su fortaleza.

A Mario le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Pedro Salazar, y su madre, Guadalupe Monreal.

Le sobreviven su querida esposa, María, sus hijos, nietos y muchos familiares que lo extrañarán profundamente.

Una vida plena, un hombre muy querido: Mario Salazar Sr. estará por siempre en nuestros corazones.

El velatorio de Mario se llevará a cabo el lunes 2 de junio de 2025, de 17:00 a 21:00, con el Santo Rosario a las 17:30 en la Funeraria Grammier-Oberle, 4841 39th St, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. La misa funeral católica para celebrar la vida de Mario se celebrará el martes 3 de junio de 2025 a las 14:00 en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe.

Mario será enterrado en el Parque Memorial Greenlawn, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, TX.
