

Paul Pena Silva, 84, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at his home. Paul was born January 25, 1928, in Houston, Texas to the late Clemente and Felipa Silva. Paul was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and will be missed by many in his community. Paul’s family describes him best as a hardworking man who dedicated himself to his family. Paul enjoyed fishing, umpiring softball games and was a devoted Astros fan. Paul was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and volunteered his time as an usher. Paul was a member of OLG Senior Club, LULAC, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the AMIGOS, as well as the Lions Club, his local union, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Paul worked as a painter for Texaco and retired with over 37 years of service.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Ophelia Trevino Silva, his brothers, Clemente Silva, Jr., Daniel Silva, and grandson Michael James LeBlanc.
Paul is survived by his son, George Paul Silva of Baytown; daughters, Margaret Hebert and her husband Mark of Groves; Cathy Romero and her husband Harrison of Avalon; brothers, Robert Silva of Houston; sisters, Shirley Davila of Houston; Nellie Rivera of California; grandchildren, Mark Hebert, Jr., Mandy Contreras, Andrew Romero, and Brian Romero and great grandson David Contreras; caregiver, Merry Capen.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012, from 2:00p.m. Until 7:00p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 3:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home.
