Phillip Kent Woods

Phillip Kent Woods, passed away at age 61 on Friday, August 4, 2023, at Friendship Haven Healthcare, Friendswood, Texas. He had previously been a resident of Pine Tree Lodge Assisted Living in Pasadena, Texas.

Kent was born on January 7th, 1962, in Port Arthur, Texas to Doris Bleakley Woods Elkins & Phillip Ray Woods.

Kent is survived by his stepsister, Sandra Elkins Christian of League City, Texas; his stepbrother, Bill Riley Elkins III (Carol) of Bay City, Texas; his Uncles, David Bleakley of Groves, Texas and John Woods (Scarlet) of Bridge City, Texas; his three nieces: Carolyn "Carrie" Kolb and Alexandria "Ali" Kolb, of League City, Texas, Celeste Elkins of Bay City, Texas and a nephew, Tyler Elkins (Allie) of Bay City, Texas.

Kent was predeceased by his parents, his stepfather, Bill Riley Elkins II, his grandparents: Ray and Maxine Woods & also Elizabeth & Richard Allen Hall Jr.

Kent graduated from Lamar University and, until his lengthy illness, was employed as a Computer Programmer for a Houston area School System. As a young man, Kent played golf at Lamar University. In his later life, Kent became an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys & the Houston Astros. He was a true friend to all who were blessed by his never-ending kindness and sweet spirit. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

A private graveside service to celebrate the Life and Homegoing of Kent will be held at 9:00AM, Saturday, August 12, in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves, Texas.

Our extended family would be remiss if we failed to express our heartfelt appreciation to Sandra, "Carrie" and "Ali" for their attentive and compassionate care of Kent. Also, we are eternally grateful for the Staff of Friendship Haven Healthcare and Hospice Plus. Kent knew he was loved.
