Ransdell spoke French as his first language, reflecting his deep roots in Cajun culture. As a devout Catholic, Ransdell found solace in his faith, often crafting handmade rosaries from the seeds of his cherished Job's Tears bush. His hands, skilled in the art of gardening, nurtured a vibrant array of vegetables that he proudly shared with family and friends. Ransdell worked for the Gulf refinery and was able to retire at age 55. He also enjoyed helping others while working at the Hospitality Center in Port Arthur for over 20 years.
Ransdell was a man of many passions. He loved to fish, often spending quiet mornings by the water, where he found peace and joy. Music filled his life, especially the lively sounds of zydeco. His love for dancing was more than just a pastime; it was a way for him to connect with others and express the joy that filled his heart. Ransdell's spirit will forever resonate in the melodies of zydeco music and the laughter of those who danced alongside him.
A proud and committed blood donor, Ransdell achieved “Gallon” status, making him a true champion of life. His generosity in this regard inspired many around him, and he was known for his unwavering dedication to helping others.
In his late 70s and early 80s, Ransdell took on the challenge of learning about computers at Lamar University, demonstrating his love for lifelong learning and his belief in staying engaged with the world.
An accomplished self-taught saxophone player, Ransdell surprised his family one Christmas with a heartfelt performance of a beloved holiday song, showcasing his playful spirit and talent.
Ransdell is survived by his sister Delores Richard, his brother Kenneth Broussard, his daughter Kathryn Champagne (Darrel Champagne); his son Carroll Broussard (Suzanne Broussard); his son Jimmy Broussard (Tracey Broussard); his daughter Judy Williams (Terry Williams); and his daughter Cindy Quebedeaux (Johnny Quebedeaux).
Ransdell is also survived by his grandchild Melissa O'Quin (Kevin O'Quin), his grandchild Joshua Broussard (Madison Broussard), his grandchild Jerron Broussard (Jessica Broussard), his grandchild Jason Broussard (Camille Broussard), his grandchild Laura Broussard, his grandchild Terry Champagne, his grandchild Darrel Champagne Jr. (Adraine Champagne), his grandchild Danielle Pulliam (Zach Pulliam), his grandchild Lisa Quebedeaux (Emily Quebedeaux), his grandchild Sheena Pate, his grandchild Denver Williams (Dana Williams), and grandchild Natasha Horn (Josh Horn).
Mr. Broussard also leaves behind 20 Great-Grand Children and 2 Great-Great-Grand Children.
Ransdell is processed in death by his wife, Marjorie (LeBlanc) Broussard, their daughter, Elaine Broussard, 2 of his brothers, Raymond, and Gerald Broussard, 3 of his sisters, Lorraine Lopez, Maurine Barrilleaux, and Gladys Seymore, his mother, Ita (Boudreaux) Broussard, and his father, Deider Broussard.
A visitation and prayers for Ransdell will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church. A rosary service will occur on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 10:30 AM. A Catholic funeral mass to celebrate the life of Ransdell Broussard will occur Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM, 4100 Lincoln Ave, Groves, Texas 77619.
Ransdell will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery , 25th Street at 9th Avenue, Port Arthur, Texas.
