Born in France to Anna Mae Young and Gerald Thornhill, Robert’s life was defined by his faith, his devotion to family, and his quiet generosity.
A loving father of three, Robert found his soulmate, Teresa, later in life. For the past 17 years, they shared a beautiful marriage grounded in love, mutual respect, and shared values. Teresa lovingly helped raise his children, and together they created a home filled with laughter, faith, and purpose.
Robert had a unique dry sense of humor and a gift for making people feel at ease. He loved to fish, and he was always the first to fire up the grill to BBQ . Though hesitant at first when Teresa wanted backyard chickens, he eventually fell in love with them, naming each one and caring for them like family.
A devout Christian, Robert was a cornerstone of his church community. He actively participated in mission trips, often bringing his three children along, teaching them through example how meaningful it is to serve others in need. His faith was not only a belief, but a lifestyle that guided how he treated everyone around him.
Robert adored his grandchildren and made every holiday special. At Christmas time, the tradition of building gingerbread houses together was something he looked forward to and treasured deeply.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Thornhill; his daughter Michelle Zalar; his son Robert Wayne Thornhill; and his daughter Brittany Lentsch; his sister Caroline, his sister Jerry and his sister Eva.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Gerald Thornhill and his mother Anna Mae Young.
Mr. Thornhill also leaves behind 2 grandchildren and a host of other family and friends to carry on his memory.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at The 1 St Baptist Church, 4000 Grant Ave, Groves, TX 77619.
