Mrs. Rose DeVillier, 90, of Groves passed away on December 24, 2012, after a brief illness. She was a native of Port Arthur, born on December 3, 1922, to parents Maurice Gherald Oliver and Elizabeth McGregor Oliver. Rose was a 1941 graduate of Port Arthur’s Thomas Jefferson High School and was a member of the Red Hussars. She was a homemaker and her hobbies in life were her church work, family, friends and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great – grandmother and a friend who will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, David Warren DeVillier, and her husband of 66 years, Warren Elmer DeVillier.
She is survived in death by her son, William L. DeVillier and his wife Glenda of Erath, Louisiana; daughters, Margo Martin and her husband Morris of Humble, Texas; Lisa Hill and her husband Ricky of Port Neches, Texas; brother, Donald Oliver and his wife Maureen of Rockport, Texas; sister-in-law, Marga Oliver of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches, with the Rev. Cliff Rucker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Drawhorn, Ryan Drawhorn, Keith Folse, Bill Fredeman, Harrison Fredeman, Mark Raines, Richard Abshire and Doug Drawhorn. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Oliver and J.C. Cook.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Salvation Army, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Port Neches and Odyssey Hospice, Beaumont.
