September 24, 1932 – November 17, 2018
Rose Granger departed this life November 17, 2018 at 11:40 a.m., at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas at 86 years of age. Rose was the oldest of two children born to Nathan and Bennie Dean Loving-Granger on September 24, 1932 in Rayne, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by both parents and her sister Ethel Granger. The family moved to Port Arthur in the late 1930’s when Rose was young. Rose attended Lincoln High School from Kindergarten through 12th grade graduating in 1954.
After graduating high school, Rose worked various jobs as a care-giver including Mid-Jeff Hospital.
Rose was a former member of the Citizen Police Academy, Neighborhood Watch Group and a member of AARP Experience Corps where she tutored elementary students.
Rose became Catholic at a young age joining Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she attended for several years until she and her family transferred to St. John Mission which later became St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church . She was a member of the Parish Finance Council; the Parish Council, the Choir; an original member of St. John Krewe of Aurora, and was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
Rose leaves behind to cherish her memories special cousins, Nettie Clark, Charlotte A Clark and Bryce J. Clark of Missouri City, TX; two Aunts, Goldie Anderson, of Port Arthur, TX and Mary Harrison of Rayne, LA; a good friend, Timothy Hill of Port Arthur, TX; Roselyn Vertil and the staff of Serenity Care of Beaumont, TX; her Parish family and a host of family, friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Anthony Afangide M.S.P., officiating under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
