Thomas Dewey Dies

Thomas Dewey Dies, 76, of Port Acres, Texas passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Dewey was born February 15, 1934, in Richard, Louisiana to Thomas and Amanda Dies. He attended school at Richard in Richard, Louisiana.

He was a devoted member of St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church in Port Acres and was a retired welder for Sabine Towing. On December 15, 1951, he married Eula Mae Elkins Dies. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Barbara Bertrand and husband Buddy of Port Acres, Debra Stanley and husband Mike of Port Acres and Kathy Coleman of Port Acres; son, Gerard Dies and wife Bambi; sister, Eldine Hanify; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernadine Meche and grandson Marcus Stanley.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010, from 4 p.m., until 8 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 10 a.m., at St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church in Port Acres. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Nederland.

Pallbearers will be Cory Stanley, Shannon Stanley, J.T. Coleman, Chad Havard, Terry Bearden and Ben Curtis.
