

Virginia Genevieve Van Velson, 88, of Port Arthur passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Cypress Glenn Nursing and Rehab in Port Arthur. Virginia was born May 17, 1923 in Denver, Colorado to the late Nicholas and Josephine Sgrignoli. Virginia is a former resident of Denver, Colorado and spent over 9 years living in Port Arthur. She lived for 33 years in Riverton, Wyoming before relocating to Denver. She enjoyed being a part of her church choir, loved dancing and was a passionate Denver Broncos fan. She was also an Avon sales representative for over 20 years.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Clara Hasselbach and her husband of over 55 years, Bud Van Velson.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Jim Van Velson and his wife Susan of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; Gary Van Velson and his wife Jann of Spokane, Washington; Tom Van Velson and his wife Kathy of Nederland; sister, Joanne Thaler and her husband Ron of Wheatridge, Colorado; grandchildren, Maria Brouse and her husband Dennis, Chris Van Velson and his wife Heather, Erica Smith and her husband Jeff, Suzanne Levels and her husband Jamey, Todd Van Velson, Zak Van Velson and 6 great grandchildren.
A gathering of her family and friends will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with a brief service at 6:00p.m. Funeral Services and Committal Service will be held in Colorado.
