Yvonne Louise Matthews

Yvonne was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she was a part of the church choir, altar society and taught CCD classes for many years. She was also a member of the Beaumont Diocesan Choir and the Interdenominational choir of Beaumont. She was formerly active as a member of the board of Camp Fire Girls and Boys Club and Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.

Yvonne is survived by a sister, Anne Hogue of Sergeant, TX; 2 brothers, Morris Matthews and wife Billie of Warren and Louis Matthews, Sr. and wife Loretta of Port Neches; 10 nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews; and 9 great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 nephews, Mark Andrew Matthews and Bryant Richardson; 2 nieces, Margrett Rene’ Matthews and Carol Elaine Sanders.

A Gathering of her Family and Friends will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Groves with Father Michael Strother of Our Lady of the Pines, Woodville officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves, TX.

Pall Bearers will be Louis Matthews, Jr., Larry Matthews, Michael Covington, Shonn Matthews, Pat O’Niell, J.C. Reynolds, A.J. Matthews, Josh Matthews, Colt Blackwell and David Linney. Honorary Pall Bearer will be Robert Covington.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Mark Matthews Memorial Scholarship Fund, Wells Fargo Bank, Acct. # 7963451138.
