Mary Ellen was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late Gonzalo Blasco. Their love story began when working at the Savoy Hilton Hotel in Manhattan. Together, they built a beautiful life on Long Island filled with love, family, faith, and wonderful memories. They enjoyed creating a community in their new town, making lifelong friends. Mary Ellen and Gonzalo enjoyed traveling and shared a love of seeing the world together.
Mary Ellen was the loving mother of Maria Elena Dembek (John), John Blasco (Deborah), and Linda Blasco-Lennon (William). She was a cherished Mema to Rachel (Vince), Sarah (Brendan), Hannah, Katrina, Emily, Elizabeth, Gabriella, Aiden, and Tyler, and was an adored great-grandmother to Callum, Kaylie, Evan, Stevie, and Colin. She was the dear sister of Jeanette Fiorie and Rose Ann Conetta.
Mary Ellen dedicated 30 years of her life to the Pennysaver before retiring. She was also a founding parishioner of St. Gerard Majella Roman Catholic Church, where she taught religious education for more than 15 years. A dedicated member of the Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, she proudly spent time serving as its Vice President. Fearless, independent and strong, she loved her career and the oportunities she found in the community.
Mary Ellen loved to open her home for family and host for the holidays. She took pride in having her home look the part for every season of the year. Passionate about music and the arts, she encouraged her children and grandchildren to do the same. She is remembered for the love she shared, the wisdom she showed and the lives she impacted.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Gerard Majella Roman Catholic Church, 300 Terryville Road, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 49-02 Laurel Hill Blvd., Woodside, NY 11377.
