She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and lived in Port St. Lucie for six years. Before retiring, she was a quality control inspector for General Electric Co. in Syracuse for 29 years and later was a toll collector for Florida's Turnpike.
Survivors include her husband of six years, Frederick Hassett of Port St. Lucie; son, Michael Kodya of Port St. Lucie; daughter, Lisa Scott of Wasilla, Alaska; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bennie Chiapputi; sister, Jeanette Magnarelli; and daughter, Christine Kodya.
