Arnold Dee Hartzog Jr.

Arnold Dee Hartzog Jr., 85, of Palm City, Florida, passed away on July 27, 2026, his late father-in-law Joseph Dunay's birthday. He was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on July 22, 1941, to the late Arnold Dee Sr and Mildred Irene Hartzog.

From an early age, Arnold’s steady work ethic was evident. As a teenager, he worked in the cotton industry—an experience that reflected the independent spirit and determination that would continue to shape his life.

Arnold (Dee) was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army veteran who had served his country during the Vietnam War. and being in charge of running the officers club at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland. He carried himself with the quiet strength of someone who understood duty and perseverance.

In his working life, he was known as an excellent salesman. He was owner of two businesses, Circuit Manufacturing Supply and Plating Technologies Inc, earning respect through diligence, reliability, and the kind-hearted way he treated others.

He also took genuine satisfaction in teaching others how to fish, sharing what he knew with patience and a devoted generosity of time and attention.

He found joy in fishing, reading, bird-watching and scuba diving, embracing the calm and wonder of the water with the same steady confidence that marked so much of his life.

Among the most meaningful chapters of Arnold’s later years was reuniting with his son, Scott, after not seeing him since Scott was 3 years old before the Vietnam war—an enduring testament to the bonds of family and the devoted love that remained present through time and distance.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Lois; his brother William (Bill) Hartzog, his son Scott, step-daughter Lara, and stepson Ryan; and his grandchildren, Ruby, Scarlett, Leah, Julia and Harrison. Dee was close with all of Lois's family siblings including Arlene Mitchell, Robert Dunay, Shirley McNally, James Dunay (deceased), Donald Dunay, Steven Dunay and Paul Dunay (twins deceased), Kenneth (deceased), and Daniel. We will all miss his smiling face!
