Brother Charles Edward affectionally knows as “George”, was born on May 27, 1937 to Charles Edward Simpson and Ethlyn Moore. He had a twin sister Ellen who proceeded him in death, seven (7) brothers, and five (5) sisters. He was born in the Balaclava District, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies, having departed this life on earth Wednesday, September 29, 2021, Port St. Lucie, Florida.
He attended Rose Valley All Age School and upon completion, he went to live in Kingston and was employed at the National Water Commission where he worked for nineteen (19) years, and was promoted to the position of supervisor.
Brother Edward was raised in church and would say that “I cannot remember a time that I was not a Christian”. He and others traveled through Jamaica holding open air meetings, attending conferences and preaching. At a young age, he got married, and to this union produced a son, who lives in Jamaica.
He migrated to America in 1980, and later returned to Jamaica. When “George” first called and talked with Sylvonie, he said “will you marry me”? Her response was “yes”. Brother Edward returned to the United States in 1999 and took Sylvonie to be his wife. She would say “he doesn’t know my name, he always call me darling. He is the best man on earth, he is gooder than good”. The couple also raised foster children for a number of years. He was blessed to enjoy the help of a beautiful step-daughter Nezlyn Bucknor, better known as Panzy, who devoted time and service assisting him and his wife.
The Edwards relocated to Florida from New York December 2002. They made New Testament Faith Center, now All Nations LDCC their spiritual home until his demise in September 2021. Brother Edward loved Jesus, was very kind, loved to witness, and greet his neighbors saying “God Bless You”. He was employed at the Harbor Place for nine (9) years before retiring to care for his beloved wife. He loved his church and his church family.
He leaves to celebrate his memory: Wife Sylvonie, step-daughter Nezlyn (Panzy), two (2) brothers, three (3) sisters, Ornald and Velma King, Gemilin Williams, and many loving and caring friends.
