

Born in Woodhaven, Long Island, New York, he lived in Manhattan, NY and the Bronx for 25 years, and moved to New Jersey in 1950, living in New Milford, NJ for over 30 years, before retiring to Florida in 1995.
He received his BS and MBA degrees from New York University, and earned a dual Master’s Degree in Industrial Management and International Business from Fairleigh Dickenson University.
He joined the Navy in 1943 and served aboard the USS MCann (DE179) during WWII. He attended the Navy’s Sonar Operators School, Sonar Repair School and Radio Technician’s School. He was honorably discharged in 1945 with the rank of SOM 2/C.
Clifford was purchasing manager for Lipton and the MW Kellogg Co. He retired as Director of Purchasing for Haagen Daz in 1995.
During his lifetime, he was a philatelist, bridge player, gardener, avid reader, musician and golfer. As a member of the Savanna Club golf course, he had several awards, and three holes-in-one. He was also a winning contestant on the TV game show “Password”.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Claire Jean Stecker (Van Norman), son, Bruce Clifford and sister, Beatrice.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Claire and Sharon Mary; one son, Brian William; and one sister, Dorothy; three grandsons, Jacob, Brandon and Zachery; and his fiancée Theresa Tempest.
