Constance “Connie” Ann Colella, 80, passed away peacefully in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on December 3, 2025. She lived her life with a steady belief in helping anyone who needed it and in doing her part to leave the world better than she found it. Kindness was her way of moving through the world, and people felt it the moment they met her.
Connie was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Elizabeth and James, who nurtured the generous spirit that would define her life. Her faith was the foundation of who she was, and she spoke about it often. It shaped her outlook, guided her decisions, and inspired the compassion she extended to others. She loved sharing the encouragement, comfort, and hope it gave her with the people around her.
Connie was a devoted mother to her daughter, Kathy, and took enormous pride in being a grandmother to Rebecca and James, and great-grandmother to Myla, Raya, Jacen, and Maverick. They were the center of her world and the source of her greatest joy.
Connie had a remarkable love for people. She truly never met a stranger. Whether she was offering a warm smile, asking how someone was really doing, or simply sitting beside a person who needed company, she made others feel cared for. Her presence had a way of making a room feel lighter.
She also loved to cook, and her kitchen was a place where people gathered not just for meals but for comfort. Connie believed that sharing food was one of the simplest, truest ways to show love. Many of her happiest moments were spent feeding others and watching their faces brighten.
Connie is survived by her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brother Alan, and her sister Marie. She carried her family’s history with her, along with the resilience and humor that had always been part of her story.
She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, faith, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of people. Those who knew her will remember her as someone who made the world a little softer simply by being in it.
The family will hold a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her name.
