Edythe G. Murphy, age 95 died peacefully of natural causes on June 14, 2018 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Edythe was born on June 17, 1922 in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Albert and Carrie Clair of LaBelle, PA.
Edythe married the love of her life, Donald Murphy and celebrated 65 years of marriage before Donald’s passing in 2007. Edythe was a beautician with shops in both LaBelle, PA and Uniontown, PA. She and Donald resided in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maryland and then enjoyed a wonderful retirement in Osteen, Florida. She enjoyed playing golf, bowling, shopping, traveling, baking and, most of all, being with her adored family.
Edythe is survived by her brother Roy Clair and wife Judy; sister Pearl Connors and husband William; daughter Janet Wasil and husband James; son Keith Murphy and wife Laura; grandchildren, Chris Wasil and wife Alexandra, Brad Wasil, Jay Murphy and wife Amy, Joel Murphy; and great grandchildren, Phoenix Kushner, LaiLani Wasil Long and mother Tammy Long, Kate Murphy, and Sarah Murphy. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and wonderful friends.
There will be a private memorial service on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Aycock Funeral Home in Port St. Lucie and then the funeral mass will be at St. Peter’s in Brownsville, PA near Labor Day weekend with a graveside service at Layfette Memorial Park for both Edythe and Donald as they are laid to rest, forever together.
Funeral Mass and burial arrangement details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Edythe’s name. The family wishes to thank everyone who has supported them during this time.
