Errol Anthony Hughes departed this life on December 6, 2018. He was born on June 18, 1953 in Kingston Jamaica, W.I. to the late Hugh Clarence Hughes and late Ethel Maud Hughes. He was educated at Maxfield Park Primary School, Melrose High School and the College of Art
Science & Technology, in Kingston.
Errol migrated to the United States on March 20, 1971 with his siblings, Rose Marie, June and
Michael.
Upon his arrival, Errol settled in The Bronx and was soon working for the New York City Telephone Company. He later worked for the Western Electric Company and most recently for The New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority, until his retirement in 2007.
He relocated to Florida in January 2012.
Errol was a fun-loving man. He was well known in his community, at home and at work. He spent much of his spare time helping his neighbors and was always ready to give a hand when needed. Among his co-workers he was known for his cooking skills as he oftentimes prepared meals for them.
Errol loved music and used his electrical engineering knowledge to tinker with and fine-tune his turntables and audio systems. He also spent time taking apart computers and televisions to understand the inner workings of the components.
Errol is survived by his daughter Alexcia; siblings, Rose Marie, June, Michael, Karl, Janine, Courtney, Conrad, Clifford, Earl, Jennifer, Audrey, Lovelet and Jacqueline; many nieces and nephews, “adopted children”, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
Errol holds a very special place in the hearts and lives of all who knew him and came to love him. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
