

Born in the Bronx, NY, George was a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL for 13 years, moving from Hopewell Junction, NY.
George served in the US Air force for 20 years, as well as the National Guard.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Cortez was a Corrections Officer for the State of New York. He also worked as an Investor in Real Estate.
George was a huge Yankee fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alijandrina Cortez.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Torres of Asheville, NC, Paul Torres and wife Bertha of San Jose, CA, George Cortez, Jr., of Wappingers Falls, NY; two brothers, Gregory Cortez of Middletown, NY, David Cortez of Port St. Lucie, FL; two sisters, Diana Immordino and Rose Ferraro, both of Port St. Lucie, FL; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rachel, Bobby, Jonathan, Anthony, and Theresa Torres; and Michelle and James Cortez; one great-grandchild, Sikoya; and many nieces and nephews..
Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 10:00AM – 1:00PM at the Aycock Funeral Home Chapel in Port St. Lucie, FL. A Service will follow Thursday, February 9, 2012, 1:00PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Jensen Beach, FL.
