Grace was born in Hoboken, New Jersey. In 1942 she married the love of her life, Thomas Accardi. They lived in Lyndhurst and Parsippany where they raised their three boys. In 1968, the Accardi family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In 1982, they moved to Port St Lucie where they stayed until their passing. Surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbors and not too far from other family members, their years together in Port St Lucie were happy ones. And the friendships they built over time were a great comfort to our mom when our dad passed in 2014. With great courage and spirit, our mom learned to take care of the many things her loving husband had done over their 73 years of marriage. She quickly took over managing the household and finances. Additionally, she thrived in continuing her daily gym routine with her friends which lasted an amazing 25 years!
Grace enjoyed cooking but her true love in the kitchen was baking- with cookies being her specialty! The pleasure she got from creating delicious treats was doubled when she saw the joy they brought to her friends and family. It was a labor of love that continued into her 98th year! And it would be remiss to not mention the universal love of her pasta sauce and meatballs- the taste and consistency of which has never been duplicated in the history of mankind!
The love and devotion that was shared by Grace and Tom over 73 years of marriage was amazing and admired by all- in particular their three sons, Thomas Jr, Robert and David. Sadly, the family had to endure the loss of David at a young age. To live through that and then the passing of her husband years later showed the world the strength of her spirit and will to live a meaningful live- which she did with a mixture of resolve and a great amount of lightheartedness. She loved to laugh and, inadvertently, often had all of us laughing along with her.
Grace is survived by her sons, Thomas and Robert and his wife Lois; her wonderful grandchildren Katie and David and his fiancé Edna; her sister-in-law Linda and her family, her niece Roseann and her family; her incredible neighbors and too many dear friends to count.
In many ways she was one of kind and her family, friends and all who knew her are going to miss her every day.
