Cheri and George so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She was my second mom growing up across the street for all those years and all the summers I spent in Key West. I will always picture her reading and drinking her coke. She was always good to us. I miss her.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing your mother. I cherish the days of William Street and my childhood your mother was a huge part of. I will never forget the time George and I had a Halloween carnival and Mrs. Mitchell made the haunted house so cool. She was a wonderful teacher and touched so many lives. I will miss her.

I worked with Julia many of the years she taught in Key West at both Douglas and Gerald Adams schools. Always happy and stern with the children. She was a joy to be with. I remember when she wanted to "kick" her morning Coca Cola habit, then her smokes. I remember when she met and married Bill - my family were shrimpers also.I remember going to her house after she and Bill built just off Flagler with my mom to deliver her Avon although my mom worked at the school - they just wanted to talk! She was quite a woman. Her family will feel the loss.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Julia. I was her "backyard" neighbor for only a short time but had the pleasure of knowing a very interesting and enjoyable person. My thoughts and prayers go out to her loved ones.
