Kim and her family moved to Miami, Florida in 1977 where her father began ministering at Sunset Chapel. There, she joined the Sunset Chapel youth group where she met her future husband, Robert Wayne McCarthy Jr. Kim graduated from Sunset High School in 1980. She later continued her education at Nova South Eastern University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
Kim began her long career in childhood education as a substitute teacher, and book keeper, at Sunset Christian Academy. She continued her career with the Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County School districts, where she worked as an elementary school teacher for 14 years.
One of Kim’s greatest joys in life was raising her two children and spending time with her family. She loved seeing her children grow-up and being alongside them as they accomplished life’s milestones. In 2018, Kim experienced one of her greatest accomplishments when she became “Granny” to her first grandchild.
Kim dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchild, loving her husband, and serving the Lord.
Kim is survived by her husband, of 35 years, Wayne; daughter, Brooke; son and his spouse, Trent and Samantha; grand-daughter, Paige; mother, Neal; two brothers, Nick and Christopher; and several other beloved family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Treasure Coast Hospice in Kimberley's name.
