

Maria Ellie Duell passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Born July 11, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, she later moved to Staten Island, New York which was her home for 23 years. Ellie relocated to Stuart, Florida upon the retirement of her husband Victor from NYPD in 1983.
Maria Ellie Duell was predeceased by her beloved husband, Victor in 2007.
She is survived by her daughters; Linda Hamilton Herzog of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Dawn Paolillo of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Joanne (John) Costello of Stuart, Florida, grandchildren, Amber Hamilton and Fiancé Christopher Charron of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Samuel Herzog of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Alyssa Herzog of Port St. Lucie, Florida, great grandchildren, Landon and Oaklynn. Ellie is also survived by her adoring nieces and nephews and many friends that became family along the way.
Ellie resided in the retirement community of St. Lucie Falls Stuart, Florida. She happily participated in the activities and events St Lucie Falls offered. Ellie‘s all-time favorite being Monday night’s BINGO game where often her friends and family joined her and filled her table with laughter and love. Ellie’s love of spending time with her family and friends was legendary. Celebrating birthdays, holidays and special life events with her loved ones along with her love and passion for cooking and trying out and new recipes gave her joy, creating memories to be cherished for a lifetime. If Ellie cooked for you, she loved you.
Ellie was employed as the Office Administrator by the charitable organization, Healthy Start of Martin County in 2007. Ellie retired after 15 years at 80 years old in November 2021. Healthy Start renamed their in-house clothing outreach “Ellie‘s Boutique” in honor of Ellie‘s retirement and her determination in making the Boutique a success. Ellie also belonged to the Pink Lady Organization. She was an active pink lady, volunteering for over 10 years at Cleveland Clinic’s Thrift store in Stuart Florida. After retiring, Ellie was able to continue her lifelong passion for travel. Her many trips included the Greek Islands, The coast of Italy and other assorted European destinations. Ellie also loved the cruises throughout the Caribbean that she was able to go on multiple times with her family along for most of them which she just loved. Her adventurous spirit and nature came naturally to her. May it serve her well as she travels from this world to the next one where we will all meet again with the will of God’s blessed Grace.

Visitation will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 Southeast Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983, US, on May 31, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a Funeral Service to begin at 3:00 pm.
