It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Saxton. Born on August 24, 1938 in Battle Creek, Michigan, he walked his final path on July 25, 2026, leaving a lasting legacy of love and inspiration behind. He was a devoted husband, beloved father, and esteemed grandfather whose presence was a source of joy and warmth to his family and friends.
Michael was a dedicated family man who is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Sherrill Saxton, and their children - David (Kimberly) Saxton, Lisa (Danilo) Dubon, and Gary Saxton. His robust spirit echoes in the laughter of his grandchildren, Thomas (Sophie) Saxton, Katherine (Nathan) Hunkele, Eric Saxton, Victoria Saxton, Anna (Nicholas Mellor) Dubon and Cole Dubon, and two great-grandchildren, Felix and Maia Saxton. Michael held his siblings very close to his heart. He is survived by his brother Stephen, but was predeceased by sisters Lois Neal, Nancy Clark, and Connie Wenslof.
His spirit and congenial personality were best reflected in the friendships he made, whether at the dog park, dancing at the Saints Pub, or while perusing art galleries in New Mexico or Florida. Michael especially enjoyed paintings of the southwest.
His playful attitude was evident in his stories and groan-inducing jokes, and his enthusiasm to play a game of Mexican train. His optimism showed in his twice a week $4 lottery ticket purchase.
The void Michael has left behind is vast and deep, but the memories he made and the lives he touched will ensure his spirit lives on. His warmth, wit, and wisdom will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the exceptional life he led, the bonds he formed, and the love he showered upon us.
