cycles of life, and the traditions she grew up with. In 1990, she chose to start a new life in Florida, making her home in Port St. Lucie and Palm Beach Gardens for the past 35 years.
Pamela raised her children as a single mother, and was immensely proud of both her children and grandchildren, spending as much time with them as she could throughout the years.
Pamela dedicated her career to nonprofit organizations supporting mental health and Catholic charities, working as a grant writer and executive for many years before earning her BA from Palm Beach Atlantic University at age 40. That achievement took her sense of purpose and pride to a new level, having worked for it later in life and on her own terms.
Pamela found magic in small, beautiful things: prisms scattering rainbows across a room, the shimmer of ocean light off the shore at the Cape, starfish, sand dollars, and sea glass gathered like
treasure. She had an adventurous spirit, always drawn to the outdoors and the sea.
Pamela was serious and sensitive by nature, but those who earned her comfort were treated to a great sense of humor. She was a woman of sharp intellect and quiet independence, with a creative
spirit that showed itself in sculpting, painting, stained glass, fashion, playing violin and flute, writing, and gardening. In more recent years, Saturday afternoons belonged to the church choir,
where she found joy lifting her voice in song. Above all, she was a woman of deep and devout faith, always spiritual at heart — she believed she was in direct conversation with God, guided by the Holy Spirit, and felt chosen to carry His word, a calling she spoke of throughout her life.
Pamela was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Ruth Powers, and her brother, William Powers.
She is survived by her daughter, Tara O'Brien (Kevin) of Port St. Lucie, FL; her son, Jason Powers; grandchildren, Declan, Finnegan, Jakob, and Emilie (Alex), all of Port St. Lucie, FL; great-grandchildren, Luca and Kaedan of Port St. Lucie, FL; sister, Cynthia of Holden, MA; and brother, Robert Powers Jr. of St. Louis, MO.
