Patricia Joyce Charest

August 22, 1943November 15, 2020

Patricia J. (Parker) Charest RN, 77, beloved wife of 54 years to Roger Charest of St. Lucie, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 22, 1943 in Fall River, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Milton Parker. She developed the love of sailing, reading and music from her father. She had fond memories of sailing on Watuppa Pond over many childhood summers. She also had a love of sewing and a passion for shoes which helped define her unique self.

Patty attended Truesdale Nursing School in Fall River, Massachusetts. She was an amazing nurse to so many over the 30 years at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart FL where she developed life-long friendship with nurses who became family.

Patty is survived by husband – Roger Charest, daughter, Debbie (Charest) Hogsten and her husband Woodie, son-Richard Charest and son-Todd Charest and his wife Susan and all her grandchildren, Kaitlyn Saliba, Trevor Hogsten, Wesley Hogsten, Addison Charest, Andrew Charest, Noah Charest and predeceased by granddaughter, Hannah Charest. Patty’s great-grandchildren are Emerson and Owen Saliba; Sister-in-Law-Doris Minor (predeceased by brother-in-law John Minor), niece Caroline Furtado (husband, Mark Furtado), nephews Christopher Minor and Greg Minor (wife, Laurie Minor).

She was an active Mom and Memere’ who loved her family dearly and was involved in each of their lives. She attended sport games (was known to be the “score keeper” at many baseball games), attended holy sacraments/celebrations/graduations and was always there to care for anyone within a moment’s notice.

Patty was a fierce competitor in tennis and enjoyed playing weekly with her friends and making an annual pilgrimage to Biscayne Bay in Miami for the tournament. She was an amazing sewer who was the “fixer” of many pieces of clothing - her latest project included creating colorful masks for all those who needed them. Patty and Roger enjoyed many a world travel and happy hour with Roger and their dear friends every Friday evening - this was always a bright spot to her.

A Funeral Mass is being planned to be held at a future time. Those who wish to remember Patty in a special way, can contribute to St Jude ( or Treasure Coast Hospice (

Patty’s affectious joy will be missed – however her love will endure and it will be carried in the hearts of all those who had the honor of meeting such a beautiful soul.

I have many wonderful memories over the years starting in nursing school and enjoying raising our children together. Even after moving to Florida we continued our friendship by visiting each other through the years. Getting together to attend your 50th Wedding Anniversary and celebrating with your family was a special memory. You will be greatly missed. Nancy and Eric

Patty would always light up a room and brought a smile to anyone who knew her. My children and I will always remember the times she took them swimming in my parents pool. She was such a kind, loving and gentle soul, who knew how to have a good time and laugh. She will be greatly missed. We are sorry for your loss. Love to Mon oncle Roger and family.

A memory I keep about Patty is the day She and Roger married. I along with my cousin David served as altar boys for the marriage ceremony. It was a beautiful joyous day that everyone appreciated and had a good time. I feel gratitude of having known Patty and am grateful for her kindness and generosity. I am sure Patty touched many lives in the same way.
